Settling In

Well. It's been a few months. We are now moved into our new apartment, Dad is here, we're looking for jobs, and we are impatiently waiting for the school year to start. For now, Jenni, Dad, Christo, and I are just hanging out and relaxing while we all get comfortable. I've shown Dad around town a bit. I'm relieved to see that he seems to like it. We went to a Gem Show today at the Radisson, looked around in Goodwill for some cheapy furniture, and grabbed some quick eats at Galaxy. I can't wait to show Dad around Sedona and Lake Mary. I know that everything is going to be just fine. :D

Apartment Hunting

We finally have good reason to relax. Everything is totally fine and put together. We won't know if we have been officially approved until next Thursday, but the woman that we have been working with has told me that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I am so relieved. I am so tired about stressing out about everything.
Also, by this time next week I will be home for the weekend. I am so freaking excited to spend some time with my family. Especially since there is going to be a big, monumental surprise.... :) I'll let you know what the outcome of that is when it happens. Hahah. Anyway. Now all there is to do is relax for a few weeks and then get packing so we can start moving on the 10th!

Summer Woes

So far, my summer has consisted of apartment searching. My daddy is coming to live with me so we had to find a bigger apartment! Also, I have a friend staying over for the summer because she needs a place to stay while she is working. :) We decided that we should all move in together during the school year, so we looked for a three bedroom apartment. Oh boy, did we find something. The Ridge at Clear Creek is a CRAZY apartment complex. It's brand new and has some bitchin amenities. It IS a little expensive, but oh man is it worth it. The have three jacuzzis, a cyber cafe, crazy awesome gym, two racquetball courts, and SAUNAS IN THE FREAKING BATHROOM. I know. It's seriously insane. The apartments themselves have brand new appliances and washers and dryers IN the apartment. THANK GOD. That was the one thing that I wanted so badly. Anyway. So yeah. I'm super excited. We're getting all of our applications in tomorrow, putting $200 down to permanently hold the apartment while they do all of the checking and stuff, and then hopefully we will know if we got it or not by Friday! I really can't wait. I hope it goes through or my life is going to be hell for a few weeks trying to find something else that won't even compare.

Updates

Busy busy busy have been the words of the month. School is finally just about over! Hurray!! Next, finalizing apartment stuff. If I do not get a call back on Monday from the landlady I am going to be pissed. She's been procrastinating on this for a week now. Gah. Anyway.... not much else is going on. I'm doing a lot of cleaning to get ready for the move. Also, my friend has moved her stuff into my place until her dad can come pick her up Wednesday, so that was a whole other thing to get organized. Hahah.

Late Night Post

Hello friends. It is currently 12:39 am on Monday morning of May 2, 2011. I have just finished editing my final big essay of the semester and I am pooped. It has been a long year, and I can't wait for the summer to start! So many fun things are happening in the coming months! My Christo has his 20th birthday, Jenni is graduating from high school, my father is moving in with me, and then it's time to start all over and get ready for the new school year! I will try to be a better blogger this summer and keep all of you up to date and such with the happenings... I might even post PICTURES!!! I know, crazy, huh? Hahah. I hope you are all doing well and I can't wait to take you on all of my epic summer adventures!

I would now like to introduce you to my friend, Ash!

The internet is a neat place no? A place where series of very random events can lead to awesome outcomes. Two years ago I started playing this video game called EVE Online and then I met this awesome weirdo named Hrothgar (NOT is real name lol). Then through Twitter I met his equally awesome girlfriend, Jess (probably her real name lol). A series of random events happened and now I’m guest posting on her blog as part of a movement I’m creating called the Sisterhood of the Traveling Blog. So who am I? Well I’m Asheyna, writer, mom, teacher, friend and sister. And all this has been intro into my post today.

The internet is changing things, and one of the biggest ways is that for many people it’s become a major venue for socialization. As the twenty-something crowd works hard to budget rent, food, bills and the cost of entertainment skyrockets we find ourselves turning to our PCs and interwebs to provide time with friends.

Another huge advantage? It opens to doors to friends located all around the world. A large portion of my friends live in countries I only dream about visiting, and even larger portion of those friends are people I have never met. There are many people who assert that online friendships are not real and dismiss them out of hand. However while I will acknowledge that you can’t truly know someone you’ve never met... there are skilled liars out there! I adamantly hold onto my internet friends.

Most notably are two friends who I miss dearly, DruidX and her hubby Darkliquid. I met them via a writing site several years ago and that friendship extended to them coming to visit me a little over a year back. The friendship translated smoothly from the digital to the physical and are proof to me that while there are limitations to online friendships they CAN be overcome.

I am so grateful for all my friends, both online and not. As time goes on and I get to know my friends better I make fewer and fewer distinctions between the two. Friends, are friends, are friends, and I love them all.

It's Been Awhile

Hello all! I am so terribly sorry that I have not given you the attention you deserve lately. I haven't really been feeling the whole blogging thing lately. Now, however, I have joined a little group called Sisterhood of the Traveling Blog. That's right, based off of our favorite novel series The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! I won't ever be able to explain it well enough so you can check the details out here.

I felt the need to explain before we had our first guest blogger so there wouldn't be too much confusion. :) My good internet writing buddy, who has started this whole she-bang (hahah.), will be my first guest. 7 Things About My Childhood

So uh... here goes.

1. I was a major girly girl. I never played sports and I loved to dress up, play barbies, and have tea parties with my grandma.

2. There was an elderly lady that lived next to me when I was young that I called Grandma. She was the sweetest woman you could ever meet. Her great-granddaughter and I were born on the same day and we were best friends.

3. I hated my freckles. Now, I love them and wish I had more. :)

4. I was given a teddy bear when I was born. I still sleep with it 20 years later.

5. One of the things I started to learn in Kindergarten was sign language. I have always wished they had kept teaching it.

6. My sister was (and still is) my best friend. I have never had any other friends like her.

7. And finally, I have dreamed about being a teacher since I was in the second grade. :)
